Emergence: Quick Look Into Deduction and Cooperation

emergenceEmergence

Emergence is a deduction card game similar to The Resistance and Werewolf but expands on the mechanics given in those games (I love when games do this). The game has a focus on teamwork and cooperation. You will be travelling around the board in order to collect data while one of the teams is trying to sabotage your work. The resources you are collecting are the tools to undermine your enemies and win. Each round begins with arguments being declared which determine what tiles you can gather for data, where to move, and who to interact with.

In Emergence, players act as Operatives for either the Artificial Intelligence security forces or the Human rebels. Since the Humans are in the minority, they know who their fellow teammates are and employ deception and persuasion to hide their true identities. On the other hand, the A.I. players use their deduction skills to identify their fellow teammates and to root out the Humans. However, knowing is simply not enough, you must still accomplish your objective. Trust no one.
