Big List of Exciting Games Coming from Origin Game Fair 2019

Not all of us had a chance to go to the Origins game fair in Ohio, but are still very curious what games are coming in and out of the retailers and consumers respectively. I compiled a list of games that will be and are being seen over this weekend. This list will not feature every single game but I’ll mention some games that look popular. You can find a full list of games here:

25th Century Games

Jurassic Parts – Jurassic Parts is a game of area control for 2-4 players. All players have access to the same slab of rock. The goal is to split it apart and claim complete dinosaur skeletons. The bigger the better! Who wouldn’t want a Tyrannosaurus rex in their living room…or a museum, if the price was right.

How to Play:
Players will take turns placing their sharpened chisels onto lines around the hex tiles, which are laid out in a single slab. Once a section of the slab is broken off from the rest of the rock hex tiles, it is divided up among the players who helped contribute to the break. Broken off tiles are assembled by the players who collected them into various dinosaur fossils, with varying point values. Once all of the tiles have been collected by players, the totals of all the completed fossils are tallied up with the highest score winning!

Kingswood– A guilded quest for 1-5 adventurers! The King has assembled the most prominent town guilds and issued them a challenge: rid the surrounding forest of monsters. Defeating monsters will earn your guild widespread fame and glory!

Players take turns controlling the guild’s adventurers moving about the village. The purpose of traveling to different locations is to either build up new or refresh your existing resources. For example, you will visit the Blacksmith for your swords, the Academy for your spell books, the Market for coins, and the Tavern for your hearts. Liquid courage perhaps? There are also 7 other locations in the game, of which you will use one per game. This adds variety to the playing experience as these special locations have a wide range of abilities.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner– Players take on the role of foxes trying to steal as many chickens as they can from the hen house, then cook them up into delicious fried chicken dinner.

Players will take on a specific character fox, each with a unique ability to be used once during the game. Players roll dice to steal chickens from the coop, collect action cards to help themselves or hinder others, and convert their chickens into dinner. Watch out for Toby the farm dog! Rolling poorly too many times and he might scare the chickens out of your bag or could end the game. Action cards can be used to steal from other players, influence dice rolls, and more!

The player who has the most fried chicken dinners and chickens in their bag at the end of the game is the winner.

Draftosaurus– Your goal in Draftosaurus is to have the dino park most likely to attract visitors. To do so, you have to draft dino meeples and place them in pens that have some placement restrictions. Each turn, one of the players roll a die and this adds a constraint to which pens any other player can add their dinosaur.

Draftosaurus is a quick and light drafting game in which you don’t have a hand of cards that you pass around (after selecting one), but a bunch of dino meeples in the palm of your hand.
