Top Holiday Board Games
First off let me say this season will be jolly. I want to wish you all the Happiest Hanukkah, Winter Solstice, Christmas, Boxing Day, Kwanzaa, New Year’s Eve, and anything else I might have missed! What are the Top Holiday Board Games to play during this wintery goodness? (Or consistent summer time if you live in Calfornia like me.) They will need to be something that is festive, something that just adjusts our senses from board games to Holiday gaming, and they need to possess a characteristic of winter, it will have to warm me up like a fireplace and cool me down like it’s snowing. Lastly, these games will have great art work that can closely resemble the aroma of the Holidays.
Our Top Holiday Board Games
12 Days Is a very quick and very tactical card game based around the 12 days of Christmas carol. Play the lowest card of all your opponents to rack up present points (which are worth more points as the cards are collected) each round. I found this a really fun 3+ card game that lasts no more than 15 minutes and is great for the list of top holiday board games. Perfectly themed, fun articulated card gaming, and great for a collective of people.
Munchkin Christmas Lite & Nightmare Before Christmas are both fantastic expansions to Steve Jacksons Munchkin series. If we aren’t familiar with Munchkins allow me to summarize it. An individual dungeon crawler experience against others where you defeat monsters, collect points and equipment, and harm your friends (who will quickly be your enemies). These two expansions add a nice holiday flair to the game. Christmas Lite introduces a few cards such as Christmas Ham or a literal Jingle Bell Rock. While Nightmare Before Christmas introduces some of our favorites from Oogie Boogie to the Fright Masks.
Nightmare Before Christmas
GiftTRAP is a party style board game for 3 to 8 players that enhances gift giving. GiftTRAP turns the act of giving and getting gifts into a lively, fun, social board-game through cards, tokens, and (good or bad) gifts! The theme incorporates the idea of white elephant and makes a card game out of it. Definitely a fun piece to have for the Holidays.
Christmas Penguins is a dice game for 3- 6 players. Take on the role of evil penguins trying to steal presents from Father Christmas. You are trying to collect the most presents possible. The theme is spot on and the penguins are adorable. This has a really interesting character changing mechanic that has a winner and a loser. Father Christmas will be changing characters based on who he reached next. He will lose once the game is over. I loved the idea of this game and the concept of winner and loser. However, I have not played this nor do I know where to purchase it. Sad rarity here but a very interesting concept and choice for the list of top holiday board games.

Letters to Santa is a fun interpretationg of Love Letter that replaces the theme of Love Letter with a Christmas theme! Love Letter has you draw and play cards to reach the Princess card numbered 8. You will do this by bluffing and eliminating players.
