Jobstacles: Quick Look Into

Jobstacles

We’ve seen some pretty fun and interesting combinations of mechanics and themes put together in order to develop some really exciting adult party games. Today, I’ll be talking about a new kickstarter adult party game–Jobstacles. In Jobstacles, you and your opponents will choose a character (for example–Hollywood Agent or a Professional Gambler) to fit the roll of a job given by the hiring manager (the player in charge this round). Like most party games your hiring manager will look over the interviewees and choose which character is the least worst for the job. The twist that this game includes whcih you won’t find any many other party games is the bonus cards which can either help your character or hinder your opponent’s character.

This game is quick to learn, quick to play, and quick to complete. Which makes it easy to want to begin another game or add a couple more rounds in. My only gripe, and I find this with most games that come with a variety of “different combination” cards is that eventually seeing the same cards can get tiring and everyone knows that certain cards will always win. Another problem I see with this title is that after the hiring manager has shuffled and laid out the character cards, once players begin playing jobstacle cards (the help or hinder option), it becomes a bit more apparent who’s card is or is not theirs. I think at this point the hiring manager can become a bit more biased about their choice. However, It definitely seems like a fun exchange of time for ¬†few hours and a few drinks in.
