Dig a Dino Kickstarter
Information provided by David Cordell
WHAT IS THE GAME?
“The discovery of a 66 million-year-old T-Rex tooth has ignited a bone-digging frenzy! You command a skilled team of paleontologists looking to win big; who knows what could be down there? Unfortunately, you are not the only team digging and you will have to battle for the limited tools available. Every day you will have to make important decisions over which tools to use; choose wisely!”
HOW DO YOU PLAY?
Dig a Dino is played over approximately 15 minutes and is primarily a ‘Worker Placement’, ‘Set Collection’ and ‘Memory Game’. 2 to 4 players compete to unearth dirt, artefacts, and dinosaurs buried in the ground. To do so players must make careful decisions over which tools to choose before other players take them. Tools are used to survey, dig and tunnel through the ground to gain ‘Paleo points’ the winner is the one with the most points at the end of the game!
WHAT IS TO BE EXPECTED FROM THE KICKSTARTER?
‘Dig a Dino’ will only exist beyond my flat with the help of the great community on Kickstarter. I would love to make the campaign an enjoyable experience for every backer so have offered exclusive opportunities for pledgers to have their face on a piece (thus be immortalised through every game), be honoured in the rulebook and be mentioned in the credits. Additionally, there are a number of very exciting stretch goals to be excavated; get digging!
Growing up abroad meant spending a lot of time outside. Most if this time I spent trying to find fossils in river beds. Although I never fulfilled my dream of ‘professional fossil hunter’ I believe this may be as close as I’ll get!
I have strived to create a fun light-hearted family game with graphics that do the game justice – so to draw each Dino featured in the game I drew each bone in their body separately and then assembled them like a real palaeontologist.
This is a good introduction or ‘light snack’ for worker placement prospectors and enthusiasts respectively. Please check it out on Kickstarter from the end of July ’16.
Have fun and enjoy the buried surprises!
